played by Renee Michaels
At age 39, Ellen has a quick wit and a tongue to match, both were developed as a defense against the world. When Ellen was 18 she got pregnant and married. Ten years later she divorced Christy's father, leaving him to raise Christy. Ellen puts on a face of independence, but that's only to free the people she loves from having to worry about her. Her relationship with her family has been frequent, but casual, a lot like her love life. Since her divorce from Christy's father, Ellen has gone from one job to another and one relationship to another. She can't seem to commit to anything, but she does comment on everything.
